PGSCTNE Visits New Britain Library History Room

PGSCTNE Visits New Britain Library History Room

On September 28th, members of the PGSCTNE were given a private tour of the Local History Room located in the New Britain Public Library.

The history room contains a large collection of records related to the history of New Britain, including many documents specific to the local Polish community. Documents in the collection include manufacturers’ catalogs, city directories (1870-1992), church histories, biographies of local notable figures, maps, municipal records, and newsletters from local organizations.

There is even a collection of documents about the PGSCTNE!

The Local History Room is an invaluable resource for anyone with ties to the New Britain community. It is open to the public for limited hours during the week (see website for more details), but is well worth the trip!

PGSCTNE attendees (from l-r) Susan Grzyb, Linda Huck, Diane Szepanski, Jonathan Shea, Bob Majewicz, Ray Michno and Carol Carter
