2019 Polish Genealogy Conference Highlights

The 2019 PGSCTNE Polish Genealogy Conference was a great success!

We had an excellent turnout, great speakers and two days devoted to education and fun! How often is it that you’re able to chat in person with over a hundred other people who are as passionate about Polish Genealogy as you are?

We’ll have a complete write-up of the event in our next bulletin and newsletter, but for now we’re pleased to share just a few photos from the event.

Thank you to everyone who attended, as well as all the speakers, volunteers and organizers!!

Party time in Plainville. Several conference attendees gathered Friday night at J TImothy’s Tavern in Plainville.CT to figure out who’s related to whom..l to r Paul Baltzer (Florida), Daniel Bucko (Poland), Christine Zukowski (Ohio), Barbara Truszkowski (New Britain/Brooklyn NY,) Jon Shea (New Britain) and Jeff Kraus (Cromwell CT). After comparing ancestor charts they determined that Shea and Zukowski are related to Bucko, Shea and Truszkowski have a chance at being related as they originate in the same place. Kraus is related to none of the above LOL and they’re still working on the rest….

An honored guest at the conference was the Mayor of the City of New Britain, Erin Stewart. The mayor was surprised with a family tree compiled by Daniel Bucko and Jon Shea both of whom it turns out are blood relatives of the Mayor. All three descend from a Karpowicz family in the village of Kamienna Stara, Parish of Dabrowa Bialostocka, in Podlaskie Province. Many thanks to Linda Huck for arranging the Mayor’s visit!
